I would highly recommend fishing Spinney Mountain Reservoir for large trout and trophy pike. June can be great for big chironomids and callibeatis.

Well, you can be to some of the best lakes and rivers Colorado has to offer within an hour to an hour and a half from the Springs. Your weight rod depends on what you'd like to do. For some of the rivers (creeks and tributaries by Northwest standards) a four weight if fine. If you want to go to the reservoirs then I would bring a six weight to deal with large fish and the possibility of wind.

I saw your post about being in Colorado in late June; I live in Colorado Springs and work in Woodland Park . If you'd like some advice or even hook up and fish, just hit me up. Is there anything in particular you would like to know?

    Cheers,

    David

Thanks for the offer. I'm interested in something close by to the C. Springs area. Also wondering about what size rod to bring (4 or 5wt)
