Hello All,
Children are our most valuable resource. Their health, welfare, education and development are critical to the growth and strength of our communities. With this said, I would appreciate your time for just a few moments while you peruse the following:
Families in the Pacific Northwest have relied upon Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center (www.seattlechildrens.org) to provide specialty pediatric care for over 90 years. It is the dedicated approach to pediatric care that marks the cornerstone of Children's Hospital mission, which also encompasses research, teaching and child advocacy. Children's Hospital is the only regional pediatric referral center devoted to the medical, surgical and developmental needs of children ages birth to 21 in the four-state area of Washington, Alaska, Montana, and Idaho. Children's Hospital is both a community hospital for the greater Seattle area and the pediatric referral center for the Pacific Northwest. It provides, directly or in partnership with others, excellent services and is an advocate on behalf of health care needs for children at local, state and national levels. Children's Hospital provides health care services for the special needs of children regardless of race, sex, creed, ethnicity or disability. Financial assistance is provided based upon family need and available hospital resources. The Children's Miracle Network (www.cmn.org) is an international non-profit organization dedicated to helping children by raising funds and awareness for 170 children's hospitals throughout North America. Each year these non-profit hospitals, which includes Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center, treat more than 17 million children afflicted with diseases, injuries and birth defects of every kind.
Earlier in the year I held a Caddis for Kids event in the Spokane area benefitting the Inland Northwest Health Services. The Caddis for Kids program is expanding and another event this December will benefit Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center. I will be tying my Miracle Caddis pattern for 24 hours during the Caddis for Kids benefit event being held at the Avid Angler fly shop (17171 Bothell Way NE, Lake Forest Park, Washington, 206-362-4030). The tying will begin on Friday, December 6 at 12:00 p.m. and end on Saturday, December 7th at 12:00 p.m. Pledges on a per-fly-tied basis and/or contributions may be made in person at the Avid Angler during the event or by contacting me directly at caddisforkids@yahoo.com. Contributions may also be made by visiting www.seattlechildrens.org. All contributions to Children's Hospital through my Caddis For Kids event are tax deductible as allowed by law.
The Miracle Caddis is an effective adaptation of the venerable X-Caddis. While the fly was developed several years ago, it was not named until the inception of Caddis for Kids in 2000. Corporate sponsors for the event include: Angler Sport Group, Avid Angler Fly Fishing Outfitters, Pacific Fly Group, Daiichi, Gudebrod Inc., Jaufmann Nets, LinesEnd.com, The Norlander Company, Ross Reels, St. Croix Rod Company, Scintilla and VirtualFlybox.com.
Thank you for your time and support and please feel free to contact me directly if you would like more information.
Kind regards,
Don Johnson
