Chopaka - I know it's hot, but what can you fish now?

I fished Chopaka once in July. Never again. Memories of too hot and black flies.

The heat is one thing, but I'd take 1000 mosquitoes over 5 black biting flies any day. However, I bet there's more than 5...

When I was last there in mid-June the mosquitoes were fierce. Normally I go in late-May/early-June when not even mosquitoes are a problem. Fortunately one of the guys brought along a screen enclosure, without which I'd have been cursing the "muskeeters" just like Meriwether Lewis did.

OK, thanks guys. I had my doubts anyway, but consider me discouraged enough to look for another location. Not even much shade!

and wait until the yellowjackets really come out through the middle of the summer into fall, then that screened enclosure is almost worth it !
