Recently I visited couple of lakes near Stevens pass area (Surprise and Glacier). Both lakes hosts small brookies. When we came to the Surprise I saw lot of splashes... unfortunately most fish was feeding far from the shore. I think float tube would be very useful. Most strikes was on slowly retrieved subsurface flies (or dry when it starts to sink). Most brookies was 5-6" and hard to hook in so I didn't actually landed any fish get hooked. My friend hooked 10-incher on spinning gear and probably it's the most productive way to catch any fish more then 6" there.
