I went to the Holiday face to face fly swap last November. Kelvin did such a wonderful job; I was inspired to host my first (maybe annual) swap
This event will be a Face to Face fly swap, we will get together on May 12th at 4:00 at Peninsula Outfitters located at 19740 7th Ave. NE, Suite E, Poulsbo, WA (360) phone # (360) 394-1599. Plan to drop in and say "Hi" to Bill and his staff.
I will close the swap after the first 12 tiers sign on.
Tie 14 flies -two sets of 7 flies that are your favorite go to patterns, the ones you actually catch fish on.
You will swap flies with two other tiers and get 12 flies in return.
Now you are wondering what happened to the 7th and 14th fly. Twelve of the flies will be for the swap. The 7th and 14th will be the price paid to me to support my greedy nature and because I made the rules.
When you sign in, list the patterns you plan to tie so we will not all tie the same patterns.
Bring a vise and tying materials and if you feel inclined and we have time you can show the others how you tie those masterpieces.
Well I'm there enough, might as well join the swap. As I don't actually catch fish I'll have to figure out some patterns.
edit: just checked the date/time. If this is really on a Monday at 4p I don't think you'll have a lot of people show. If you meant Sunday (13th) I'm out as I am working.
Hank I received you E-mail signing up for the swap. I can't see any thing here. So I will put you on the list. Let me know what patterns you want to tie.
Hey Bonsai,
I live close and this could be fun! 4:00 is a touch early for everyone non-retired. Any chance we can say 5:00 and make it work? I think if you clear it with Bill that might work. Think his shop closes at 5 but he is a super nice dude and probably could be coerced into hanging later if it works for him. If not there is many local joints to hit. If this jives, I am in.
It is Monday morning and we only have 4 of us signed up for the swap on Saturday. As far as I am concerned it is still a go. The 2 extra flies I asked everyone to tie were not really for me. I wanted to set 2 doz. files aside and donate them to Project Healing Waters. So if you feel so inclined tie up some extra flies and we will make sets up and send them off to Project Healing Waters. If there are any others out there that are thinking about joining us sign in.
With WABOWMAN having to work out of town and being unable to make the fly swap that left 3 of us. I have decided to cancel the fly swap for now. If you have already tied your flies hang on to them and I will try to put something together soon and we will try again. A few of you have expressed a desire for an other venue, day and time. Let me know and I will take your suggestions into considerations.
