Yesterday, I was shoveling snow at this time after work. It was probably the most accumulation of snow we've had all year. Today the snow was gone. The sun was shining, blu skies, birds were chirping, and the bugs were out. I saw several bees, even had one land on my hand. Midges were hatching in swarms.
I hit the river at two, and had until four to try and make something happen. I swung up a pretty little wild bow on lunch break a week ago, so I figured I would try swinging again. An hour and a half, a couple hundred yards of river, and only one brief hookup. I was incredibly thirsty, but wanted to try on more spot before heading back to town. First cast I caught a pretty beat up hatchery brat, but it put up a decent struggle. It was now four, and I turned my truck for town. As I was passing the bank, I did a double take when the reader board said forty eight degrees.
I hope it stays like this for the rest of the week. I don't work again until Monday. NCM_0043.JPG NCM_0047.JPG NCM_0051.JPG

Well-done! I had my big trees thinned & then tore-down my old storage shed. Sounds like your day was lots more fun . . .

We had our biggest snow of the year Sunday night through Mon afternoon. About 7'' up here on the hill bringing our seasonal total to around 60''. It snowed until about 3:00 pm and then I started plowing and plowed till almost dark. It has been a low snow year so far without needing to bring in heavier equipment to open up my road. Berms are less than 4' high along the road and the next 10 days appear to all be in the 40's to low 50's. The melt is on but we still have about 2' on the ground. It will melt fast, there should be some spawning riffles in my road in another few days.

I don't think I have ever been as ready for spring as I am this year.

Man, yesterday it was in the mid 40's. Today more of the same. Supposed to be this way for about a week It's almost shorts and "T" shirt weather. I also made it out yesterday. I had to sit there and think of what to entice them with and settled on a soft hackle with a copper john about 18 to 20 inches behind it. Had one hit and then I got about a 9 inch RB. First fish this year. Then nothing after that.

The sun was warm on my back This is something that I've been missing for about 5 months. It can only get better. I hope.

Frogs were croaking out back again this evening, and I found this little bit of beaver work on Sunday when scouting for biking trails. That dam is only about 4 feet across, and the "pond" is 8 feet at its widest. Note the Pussy Willows. IMGP1641.jpg

I can see some grass in my yard for the first time since our freakishly warm January! Soon the dog can stop shitting on the snow. I might even get some skwala fishing in before my pending move to Bozeman. Daylight savings time Sunday!

Wednesday morning in Cle Elum - rained very hard most of the night, but yesterday afternoon it was 44 and the snow was coming off the roof. It is forecast for more rain and warming for the next few days so some of the April and May runoff is happening now! It will stay that way unless we get more snow.

It was so nice yesterday, I accidentally left my my window down in my truck. The pouring rain woke me up a little before five, and had me throwing my clothes on and dashing for the driveway.

Went over and took pictures at Rocky Ford. The forecast was not really promising, but ended up sunny and warm. I should have take my LaFuma recliner. Looks like another good day today.

Maybe spring is finally here!! I am with Ive on this winter.....and we spent it in Wenatchee instead of Arizona.

Nice post and photos Triploid Junkie.

We had massive front croaking last night for the first time this yway and I noticed plant growth on the bottom of Lone Lake. Love that, spring is on its way.

Enlightened and I tried our luck for a couple hours, but caught squat. Oddly, when we showed up to our chosen spot tonight, there were about ten vehicles and thirty or so people. About ten of them were SWIMMING!!!! I had heard about this local challenge going around on FB today, but about the last thing we expected was to see a beach full of swimmers.

From what I saw on Facebook, an even larger group showed up after dark and jumped in. Another social experiment like the hoverboard scam going around?
