Probably scared the hell out of that big lizard they had caged up in there. Looked like a baby T. Rex.
I'd forgotten about it until you brought it up Kerry; "tavern", "Doo-vawll", "30years ago~" slowly brings back a few more memories.
    Is that thing still there?

A couple half hitches is my guess.

    Tow a car? Half hitch.
    Drag a rock? Half hitch.
    Leash for dog? Half hitch.
Woman to the hitching post? Half hitch.
Tippet to fly? 2 half hitches.

I was there before the mid 80's, mid 70's, and mid 60's. I was there in the early parts of the 50's.

Was going to go to Duvall today, but it was cloudy. Didn't feel like I wanted to risk it. Maybe tomorrow. The sun did come out, but only for about 30 seconds and then took a hike.

Are there any good hikes in Duvall? I have never hiked in Duvall but am willing.

You can hike the beautiful creek canyon at Taylor park, just down the street from my house.

Nice pic. I like the fact there are no wolves in Duvall too.

You can also stroll along main street, and watch the DUVALLIANS, cosmopolitan that they are!

I will need to visit there today, to purchase some things at the auto parts store, and i would visit the fly shop, if there was one.

The absence of a good fly shop in DUVALL is, in my humble opinion, a gross social problem. It besmuches the gracious character of the fair city/township. As it is, I shall be forced to sojourn to Mill Creek.
That is going to take time away from DUVALL though.

My garage/office is basically the closest thing we have to a fly shop

Mmmmm. Would you have a selection of BWOs available for purchase?

in size 4 or 2? I understand that the Snoqualmie has monster BWOs coming off in the sunshine.

    Oh, wait. Those are Mallards.

Fresh out of those. I have some 2/0 and 3/0 BWO. I only keep stocked on the popular sizes.

I did notice a vacant store front on Main Street the other day. Perhaps you should move your office/garage to there, and display a vivid assortment of BWOs in a selection of colors. Purple and Neon Green might be big sellers. Especially in size mentioned.

That one made me cry. I went to Olympic CC for a year or so in the early 70s and we called it the pound. "Bremaloes" is priceless.

IIRC they took down the lizard on the sign, and added an electric guitar. Presume that they are the same people that had the lizard.

Maybe GIECO got miffed about something and made them change it.

I passed through Duvall back in the early 70s. The official tippet to fly knot at that time was the two-overhand Granny knot. That would be rapid evolution if the surgeon's knot has become popular already.
