I was taking a 3 day weekend next week and was looking for a destination in Washington, Oregon, or BC roughly 6-7 hours away from Seattle to try out for a camping/fly fishing trip.

    Any suggestions?

WEST SIDE VANCOUVER ISLAND, WENT THERE FOR TWO WEEKS IN AUGUST 2 YEARS AGO. BEST CHINOOK FISHING IN MY LIFE. NOT FAR EITHER. TAKE PA FERRY YOUR THERE IN NO TIME. NEED BOAT THOUGH. BUT IF SILVERS AND PINKS ARE COOL TOO JUST CHECK OUT NEAH BAY OR SEKIU. I GO UP EVERY OTHER WEEK, BEST YEAR IN YEARS. SEKIU IS CALMER BUT NEAH BAY HAS A LOT OF SEA BASS AROUND THE KELP BEDS WHICH STRIKE FIERCLY ON FLY. LOST A 30 PLUS KING FISHING FOR BASS. ANYWAY 30 FISH DAYS 10 POUNDERS COMMON. IF YOU DONT HAVE BOAT OLSONS RESORT IN SEKIU RENTS THEM OUT. HERES THERE NUMBER 360 963 2311. REALLY RECOMMEND IT

I would second the Neah Bay/Sekiu reccommendation. Top Water Charters in Neah Bay runs saltwater flyfishing trips. Check out the web site: http://www.flyfishneahbay.com/index.htm .

Southwest Vancouver Island also good and offers beach-fishing opportunity for coho and pinks. Check out fly shops in Sydney, Victoria, or Vancouver for advice. There is also GREAT saltwater flyfishing at Clayoquot Sound on west coast VI, more like 8-9 hours away, but well worth the drive. Weigh West resort offers pretty economical flyfishing packages. I think the website is weighwest.com or try a search for weigh west or for Tofino.

It might be alittel early, but Kamloops lakes are well within your drive time, as is the Deschutes.

    Have fun.

This is good information when I graduate to Fly Fishing for Salmon. For now we are after trout, so I think we are going to hit the Deschutes for a three day weekend. If any of you know of any good lakes that have been fishing well for fat trout, that would be great to know. Ill let you all know how the Oregon trip goes.
