So at the risk of pissing off my wife, I blew off packing for a bit yesterday to answer the siren song of Craigslist. In addition to the rod and reel I posted earlier, I got a Tahoe clicker from the same guy for 5$. Then from another guy, I got a Hardy Marquis 8/9,an Orvis Clearwater that also drives on the wrong side of the road, and some odd clicky Daiwa thingy. It was a Gooooooood haul.

Wow, jumping right in. Are you switching to trout fishing, by the way?

Yep. I was pretty stoked about so much gear for so cheap. As far as switching goes, trout fishing has always been my favorite.

Does the "odd clicky Diawa thingy" have a number on it? 700, 710 or 720. If so it is a well made Hardy clone. The best of the Hardy clones Heddon's, Berkley's, and Daiwa's are
good reels at a much lower price than the equivalent Hardy's.

735, I think. It has 2 handles like a Centerpin reel. Makes a helluva racket when you pull line off of it. I think I'm going to fish it in the salt.

The fish may disagree with that, Ed. They seem to have their own schedule. If you are not there at lunch time, you don't get the takes.
Or maybe it is just my deodorant or karma.
