I haven't specifically fished the Olympic Peninsula alpine lakes, but on the Alpine Lakes Wilderness lakes, small nymphs are usually the most productive flies. My favorites are size 12-16 hares ear and pheasant tails, fished on a sink-tip line in the shallows. If something is hatching, go for a realistic imitation to the bugs, just like a standard lake. Also, small BH wooly buggers in brown and balck always work well.
