Long time lurker 2nd time poster...

I have an opportunity to add to my rod and reel collection...by adding a brand new March Brown 7wt 7 peice and brand new Billy Pate Salmon model reel with new wulff floating line...400 buckaroos...I've done some research and it seems like a good deal, but would appreciate a few opinions on it. I just took it out back and it casts like a dream, love the reel too.

    Thanks in advance

I used a MB 7 piece 4wt for a summer. I hated the extra string- up time and keeping all the pieces lined up. It was very well-made, however, and it fit in my backpack for NYC Subway bass fishing.

Is the Pate a DD or AR? No matter what that seems like a decent deal. Those Pates are next to indestructible, a well built tank of a reel.

The Pate reel is worth near $400. You can't find a salmon model just about anywhere whether it's a DD or AR. They are bulletproof and guarenteed for life, regardless of owner. If I could find one, I'd jump on it. I however, don't know a thing about the rod.
