My family is going Dec. 21-28, I'm bringing an 8wt TFO professional with an intermediate clear tip line. Are there any flats nearby that I can fish for bonefish or anything of size that'll bite? It'll be my first time fly fishing anywhere tropical. Any advice or experience to share would be greatly apprectiated

I'm not sure if there are any Rooster fish in that area that you can target with a fly but after watching this trailer (Running down the man) I'm hooked on the idea!

Just search the forums for "Puerto Vallarta" (note spelling - it's Puerto). There are some threads listed with pertinent info.

The rooster in my profile is from Puerto Vallarta. Walk to the beach, look for the birds diving. If it is close enough for you to cast to, you will catch fish. If not, take out a kayak, stick the rod between your legs and let your fly drag behind you. The fishing is easy down there. Early morning and late afternoon are the best. Have fun!
