Where would you go?

My wife and I were planning to head up to the Cariboo, Horn Lake area for three weeks of canoeing, catching big rainbows and sitting by the campfire. The current fire seas has put this plan at risk. There is still the chance of a good first week of Sept. rain to cancel the backcountry and campfire restrictions in BC, but the forecasts don't look promising. Can anybody suggest alternatives? Uncrowded is desireable, but flat or moving water, salmonids or warm water species are all optional. We are leaving from the San Juans at the end of the first week of Sept. and would like to stay within 750 miles or so. Pend Orielle? Deschutes? Henry's Fork? I have ideas but I haven't been out there for decades so I'm hoping for some ideas on current conditions. Thanks for any help. Tom
