After a day fishing with our guide, we discovered this! We all had a good laugh.
This is where fly line ends up after a day on the water with no fish.
This is what happens when you get pissed off at somebody.
I could. If you have ever had a piece of sh_t fly line, you would understand... completely.
That there is a potenial switch/spey belly or some interchangable tips if your are a old time line splicer
Hummm... that looks like the line I was using when that 45-pound class steelhead cleaned my reel out after an epic two-hour struggle.
I know it's not the line from the 80-pound chinook that fought me to a standstill after an epic three-hour struggle the week before, because that line was orange.
I had a shit line. That 555 line by Cortland. I took it off my 5wt reel and wrapped it around a coke bottle. That was about 6 years ago. I haven't seen it since then.
Is it a bad line or is it a classic Game Over Tangle? I prefer ending a day with a fish to one of those. But sometimes I get a tangle you could make a Nova episode about, and game over music from Super Mario Bros plays in my head.
I'm guessing someone is pissed at your guide. It looks like they intentionally made it difficult to unwrap. Though, I can think of better passive aggressive ways to take anger out than to waste a flyline to cause a few minutes of minor inconvenience.
Like others said, must've been a shitty line.
All I see is a lot of indicator stops. I would have taken it as a gift.
Looks to me like a running line judging on diameter and amount.
I bet it was a prank by one of the guides buddies...
i was just returning it, and didn't want it to be left behind.
One guide to another.
I would say guide friend too.
If they were pissed they can slice a tire and ruin an hour+ of your day in 1 second. Taking the time to wrap it up, seems like a light hearted prank.
They could have donated that line to project healing waters
