That goes both ways.... maybe you should think first before you type insults directed at someone.

I do not believe I was aiming insults specifically at you but merely responding to this thread from a personal gut level. I agree it does go both ways and from this point forward I will refrain from expressing my viewpoint with words and gifs combined.
Now go out there and do what we're here for, fish and have fun. It is much healthier out there than in here :)

I need to clarify that I do watch and enjoy commercial fireworks because I am not being surprised by the explosion. What I have problems with, as a Vet, is when the explosion comes without warning.

Also, I do own a number of guns and enjoy firing them, but I am the one in control of the trigger. I also don't have a problem at a gun range because the noise is expected.

Really? I can think of 3 reasons that appears not to be the case. ;)

I was awakened at 1:33 this morning to painfully familiar "bang, bang, thump, thump bang" of illegal fireworks. I realized then I have a very all too familiar feeling of disdain for the entire July 4th holiday solely as it seemingly inspires eight more weeks of crap noise, litter and arson threats.

I am reiterating my vote for a new holiday spirit of tree planting to replace the goddamn illegal fireworks.

Happy Independence Day to all regardless of how you choose to celebrate it.

    :D

    The numbers:
    • About 15% of America lives at or below poverty level
    • US population about 317M
    • About $650M spent annually for home fireworks and another $100M for commercial displays
    • We could all opt to give $20 each to folks less fortunate to use towards a family BBQ and enjoy some peace and quiet. :)

Best Fireworks I've seen this year is the kid, James Jones, Mariners Center Fielder. He's a lil' like Ichiro, punching out the hits, stealing the bases....

This could be the post of the year.

For those who wish to celebrate their freedom (which others served for) they should carry on the tradition and enlist themselves. Now that the draft has ended I find very few people who served voluntarily. I salute those who do/did.

But I'm not really into fireworks getting set off in the middle of my neighborhood...so I guess I'm a freedom hating, unpatriotic, prick. I always thought I was just a prick.
