I finally got to give the new rod/reel a go today on my lunch break. Its a Scott A4- 10' 7wt with a sage 2280 reel and scientific anglers steelhead taper line. It roll casts like a champ and launches my heavy streamers upwards of 400 feet (rough estimate).

I could not be happier with Santa this year ( my wife claims it was her idea).

400 feet? A football field plus?

World record for a single hand cast is 270 feet. Maybe you should recheck your distances.

I estimated him shooting the line 340 ft. He tends to brag. He beat me my a couple meters, i was using old line and a #20 bug.

Sweet! It'll cast 450+ once you remove the shrink wrap from the cork.

No need on the smiley face, anyone who missed the part about the rough estimate needs to work on their inferential reading techniques. Nice set up, but how was the catching?
