Well, the Bellevue show is over. The glitter and glitz of the biggest, the brightest, the newest and the best has passed. I'm sure all that attended have been sufficiently satisfied and entertained. Maybe the masses will be heading out to the Northeast Coast to fly fish for stripers now; or maybe not. Maybe the masses will be heading out to tropical destinations now; or may not. Maybe its time to put the focus locally.

On Saturday, March 13, there will be a day-long fly-fishing show--the Olympic Peninsula Fly-Fishing Exposition--at the Gardner Community Center
(off 101, about 15 minutes short of Sequim, on the east side of the Olympic Peninsula).

Host Skip Morris, author of FLY TYING MADE CLEAR AND SIMPLE, MORRIS & CHAN ON FLY FISHING TROUT LAKES and author of a total of nine fly-fishing books, will be presenting slide shows and tying demonstrations all day long.

Another fly writer Doug Rose (with a new book out, STEELHEAD FLY-FISHING ON THE OLYMPIC PENINSULA) will perform two slide shows. There will be lots of other presenters as well, among them fly-shop owners and guides.

Carol Morris who is the main photographer for Skip's books, will present a slide show on photography and flyfishing.

Here's the skinny on the event.

DATE: Saturday, March 13
TIME: 10:00am to 5:00pm.
ADMISSION: Admission for adults is $9.00--but only $7:00 with a coupon, available at most area fly shops, including Waters West which is just down the street from the show; children 12 and under $2:00.
LOCATION: Gardiner Community Center, Gardiner, Washington.

SPONSORS: Greywolf Fly Fishers and Rainshadow Chapter of Trout Unlimited

TACKLE & TYING ROOM
This room will feature two tables--one for fly tying instruction, one for general fly-fishing information such as where to fish on the Peninsula
and how to tie fisherman's knots. There will be six sessions per day on each of the two tables.

On top of this, there will be 22 tables with guides, fly shops, manufacturers, outdoor artists, etc. displaying and selling their
goodies.

Seems like this event is much more targeted to our local fisheries than what was presented in Bellevue this weekend by those "in the know."
