Surprised that no one has said anything yet: https://www.facebook.com/tmotzkus
thats fucking gross wtf
Can't comment. I might offend someone.
...why does this obscenity/activity/practice not surprise me?
At least put them back in the river to replenish the ecosystem, my god what a waste.
Some solid stewardship right there.
That can't be legal....
wow, and im still just tryin to hook my first salmon.by the way bass turds, congrats on just winning avatar of the year!
wow. The sad thing is that nothing will happen. When will we realize that if we don't start acting on sustainable practices, we'll just be sawing both our legs off, then the arms, leaving just our heads to witness the last breathe of our human errors. I guess the quick dollar and greed is more important.
Leland, do you have any info?? Doesn't appear that the fish have been gutted, eggs pulled or anything. Thats a lot of fish to dump... Is it possible they were trapped by the tide...unlikely for sure, but... possibly an oxygen/polution issue??
if not, what a wanton waste...
The females were stripped of their roe for wholesale sale to the lucrative sushi market. "Ikura", or salmon eggs, are a delicacy in Japan and in sushi bars around the world.
Dave, I looked at the FB page and the accompanying comments and it seems (I'm assuming the info is truthful) that these Skok fish were dumped just about everywhere. The males were whole but the hens had been stripped of the eggs.
The poster said what you see in the photo is only about a quarter of the fish they left.
He claims to have seen folks driving down the road with people in the bed of a pickup tossing fish into the roadside bushes!
Makes me want to puke!!!
People of the River...
Is that the Nalley Valley Slough dump site?
Yeah it seems that this in not an isolated incident. I was doing some Cutthroat scouting in the South Sound yesterday and saw this on the side of the road. Made me sick. None of the fish were gutted, just dumbed.
Looks like lummi caught some excess fish given are superior salmon healthy Eco systems
