I, for one, am excited as well. I've lived in WA now for approximately 3 months, and have really fallen for beach fishing. Can't wait to try some new (and larger) specimens of salmonids.

You are in for a treat this summer! This thread makes me think of the Replacements' "Cant' Hardly Wait."

I'm bringing the kids over to the PS to visit grandpa and rope the young ones into some pinks. Well, me too. I'll be having as much fun as the kiddo's.

Paul I will have the boat ready to go with very light Canadian style mooching reels. You just say the word and we will go. Also got a 10 weight ready for lings. You need to tell me what line to buy

Pinks off the beach on Whidbey is a hoot. After seeing this I went and dug out my pink flies, just to see if I had enough. It's still a ways off, but I'm ready.

  11. Congratulations on your first post in 2.5 years! April 1st, don't forget to buy your fishing license as you've let it lapse for the past 3 years. Glad you'll be getting out with me, will have to bring the kids and have them give it a go this year.

I think they predicted the run in the Snohomish system at almost double what it actually was in 2011. Don't put too much stock in the predictions.

I might even go see if I can catch some this year. Somehow, I've always managed to miss the run. I must have been fishing for some other species closer to home, or something.

Also a stronger run predicted for the Skagit! I hope to duplicate an epic day I had floating Marblemount to Rockport mid-Sept 2009. Fresh pods still pushing up the channel, even as others were beginning to hang-out in the shallows awaiting zombie mode. Easy to target the hot ones. My arm feels sore now just thinking about it!
